Wild Orchids – Borneo

In collaboration with renown Japanese photographer Toshiro Inamori, the 90 page adventure e-book “Wild Orchids – Borneo” features 40 photographs of rare wild Borneo orchids and magnificent landscapes made public for the first time as an iPhone/iPod Touch application.

This is a first of it’s kind application and the first in a series of ‘culture applications’ Appliya is releasing over the coming months. These applications feature collaborations with Japanese culture specialists, professors, artists and historians to introduce Japanese culture and the work of Japanese creators to an international audience via the iPhone/iPod Touch platform.

PHOTOGRAPHER TOSHIRO INAMORI’S BIOGRAPHY
CEO of Ine Company. After working at Chunichi Shimbun and Yomiuri Shimbun newspapers and TBS Vision, Mr. Inamori established the Ine Company in 1994. He has also filmed various television programs for TBS, NHK, and TV Tokyo networks.

Since 1997, Mr. Inamori has been shooting in Borneo, the largest territory of wild orchids (approx. 3000 species) over a number of years, capturing valuable wild orchids and their surroundings deep in the jungles in high-definition videos and photographs. As of today, he has photographically captured approximately 700 species. Nowhere else in the world can you find such an extensive collection containing footage of extremely rare wild orchids that have been photographically captured for the first time ever. He shot these photographs alongside Mr. Anthony Ram, a foremost authority on orchids and a member of the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew in the UK. Together, they have captured footage of a vast array of wild orchids for the first time ever on video.
