Coverflow at the Movies

As of Movies 1.8 you can rotate your iPhone/iPod Touch 90 degrees and Movies will show a Coverflow(tm) alike interface to browse through your movie collection

Coverflow at the Movies

Movies is a movie catalog application with stunning graphics. It allows you to quickly add, find and view movies in your library (with the ability to add new movies by seeking by title using imdb.com – so all movie details are filled in for you!). It also allows to lend movies to friends, so you can easily keep track of who you gave that copy of “Quantum of Solace” to.

The movie list has 3 visualisation options, “Wood”, “Charcoal” and “Metal” which makes browsing your movie list a pleasure for the eye.

Quite a nice little app to be fair. I just spent an evening loading all our movie collection and hand the iTouch to a guest to browse instead of having to stand in the darkened hallway trying to read titles.

Suggestions would be to allow genre by a select rather than typing, and then to allow (easy) filtering on that. I would want to be able to just show ‘all action’ or ‘all drama’ for example.

Also, the images on the shelves are tiny so you cannot read the titles very easily (unless you recognise the cover really). The title displayed with it is only the first few characters which is then cut off, there is room for a bigger shelf image making that much more usable.

Nice work though, looking forward to future upgrades.
