Vernon Bright and the Magnetic Banana

icon-magnetic-banana_apWhy is it that only a few metals are magnetic? Why not bananas? Or worms? Or Horace the Guinea Pig? When Vernon Bright’s scientific investigations turn him into a living magnet, he’s trashed by toasters and scragged by supermarket trolleys. John Watt wants to help – but bashing his new friend over the head with a cricket bat probably isn’t going to work…

Description

The “Musiquizz (Blind Test)” application allows you to play a musical blind test on your iPhone / iPod Touch.

WARNING, it is important that your library is totally clean to be able to fully enjoy this application. ex: if you have songs whose artist is “The Beatles” and others with “Beatles (The)”, you may have to choose between those two.

Game

The music starts and the game displays different artists. It’s up to you to guess which one is the one of the song. If your answer is correct, you’ll earn a number of points which depends on the time you took to give the answer : <hen the song starts, the score is 1,000 points. When it drops to 0, it’s too late and the correct answer is displayed (Tap “OK” to launch next track). You lose 100 points in case of wrong answer.

At the end of the game, the final score and the number of correct answers are displayed.

Two-Players Game (Battle)

The principle of the game is the same, but the first player to answer scores the points. At the end, the player with the higher score wins the game. The two players play simultaneously on the same device, with the same track : the screen is split.

Earning jokers

During the game, you can earn jokers if you give fast and correct answers. Those jokers are here to help you during the game.

You earn a joker when :

  • you give a correct answer in less than 2 seconds
  • you give a correct answer in the last second of the time
  • you give 3 fast (< 3 seconds) and correct answers in a row
  • every 10 000 points

Settings

You can set different options in order to adapt the game to your taste. Options are saved automatically when you clic ont the “Home” button. Vous can get back to the default values by clicking “Load defaults”.

Number of tracks - [Default : 15 Min : 5 Max : 15]
This sets the game’s length. It represents the number of tracks of which you have to guess the artist.

Number of answers - [Default : 4 Min : 3 Max : 6]
This allows you to tune the game difficulty, by choosing the number of different answers the game displays to you.

Time for answer - [Default : 20 Min : 10 Max : 50]
This allows you to tune the game difficulty, by defining the time limit for answer (in seconds).

Jokers active - [Default : Yes Yes/No]
This option allows you to deactivate jokers if you wish.

Number of jokers - [Default : 3 Min : 1 Max :6]
This is the maximum number of jokers a player can have at the same time.

Jokers Description

Pause : This joker gives you break for thinking: music and timer both stop. Break time is equal to half the answer time.

50/50 : This jokers removes all the wrong answers, but one. This leaves you with a 50% chance of giving the correct answer.

Fast Forward : This joker allows to fast forward the playing track fo 30 seconds. Can be useful for tracks with neverending intros …

Score x2 : Doubles the score in case of correct answer. In case of wrong answer, the joker is lost (but the -100 points are not doubled).

Skip : Not inspired by the currently playing track ? This joker allows you to skip it, without losing any point (and it’s not taken into account for the “number of tracks” parameter.
